Objectives:
– Create a clear and differentiated picture of how global trends and national contexts have changed the democratic role of universities in terms of governance, based on a literature review;
– Through secondments, conduct case studies to explore the aims, intended and unintended effects of university governance related to the content of the other working packages;
– Provide policy recommendations to advise on university governance that strengthens the role of universities for democracy in future.
